The boy next door let me wear his uggs. So when did boys start wearing them?

Ok, so Im forced to move with my mom and dad from sunny florida to the tundra up north called Buffalo. Well not exactly Buffalo but in the burbs. So this morning its like 12 degrees and 4 inches of snow on the ground and im standing at the bus stop in skinny jeans, flat (barefoot) and a hoodie. The boy who lives at the house where the bus stop is called me to his door and asked if I had boots, duh if I did they’d be on my feet. He asked my size (a 9) and handed me a pair of classic tall chestnut Uggs in a mens size 8. I tried them on (a little big) so he gave me a pair of socks. They fit fine then.He told me he just got them and asked me to take care of them till I bought boots. He had on the classic short Uggs in chestnut too. You could barely tell because his jeans went over them.Oh well Im getting to my questions. So, since when did boys start wearing Uggs? Do boys anywhere else wear them? Oh one more thing, he’s like the hottest boy in 9th grade and his girlfriend is the really pretty so you cant say he’s gay or anything like that. Oh and he’s not the only boy in the school either. I saw alot of guys wearing them like more then 20 today. Also I really didn’t plan on buying Uggs for my winter boots but all the girls wear them and they are warm and comfy. Should I get a pair to fit in?

Answer
Yuch. I’d rather boys just went barefoot. Then again UGGS are ugly on anybody.

The Best Winter Boots | Columbia Bugathermo Boot Review

April 12, 2012 by
Filed under mens snow boots articles

Are you an avid outdoors person looking for the best winter boots?  Consider the Columbia Bugathermo boots with the world’s first built-in heating system.  No matter what conditions you might encounter in the great outdoors the Bugathermo can match them head on to keep you warm and toasty.  Long gone are the days of ice cold feet and miserable dispositions.  Spending a lot of time outside, I have tried many winter boots throughout the years as most of us have.  Some are good but none have been great.  However, last year all of that changed when I found out about the Columbia Bugathermo.  Getting my hands on a pair of these was no small feat as they sold out quickly across the nation.  But my persistence paid off in dividends. Now, down to the nitty-gritty of the key features and why I think these are the best winter boots.

Key Features

The Nubuck split leather uppers are waterproof, however I treated mine with Nikwax and let cure of 24 hours before taking out in the weather as I always do.  The cut is high, just above the ankle, which will keep the snow out but if you should need to attach a gaiter there is a convenient rustproof hook on the top of the boot for an easy attachment.  Also, all of the hardware on the boot is rustproof which is sure to increase the longevity.  The lacing system is a Speed Lace that allows for a convenient, easy entry and exit with a swift motion.  However, I wore these several times before they broke in and the movement became second nature.  The mid sole consists of a proprietary material known as Techlite.  Its injection molded with a nylon shank for additional support and made the boots feel stiff at first.  The outsole offers lugged, dual density traction patterns that Columbia calls Omni Grip.  It conforms to ice and snow that allows for a stable platform.  Sure to rival any Vibram sole on the market which I have sworn by for years.  I thought it performed very well and never felt as if I didn’t have sure footing.

An innovative 3 temperature heating system operates off of a rechargeable lithium battery which comes with an easy-to-use USB adaptor that you can plug directly into a wall socket or charge from your computer just like your cell phone.  Be sure to follow all of the instructions before using and charging for the first time to benefit from and receive the best possible performance.  The lowest setting is reported to provide up to 8 hours of heat in extreme cold.  My feet stayed warm and cozy in below temperature conditions and since I was able to control the settings directly I found that they did not get overly hot enough to cause them to sweat even as my activity level increased.  I do recommend wearing a synthetic sock though with moisture wicking properties as well as pre-heating the boots at least 5 minutes before going out in the frigid cold as I believe this helped them to perform better.

The interior of the boots contain 200g of Thinsulate along with a thermal insulation technology that Columbia calls Omni Heat.  This is a patented system that works with your own body to offer superior heat management.  The dotted lining helps to regulate temperature by reflecting and retaining the warmth your body generates but helps to dissipate excess moisture while maintaining a high level of breathability.  Columbia states that 50% of the content is recycled and will retain 20% heat on average.  Those are some stats I can get behind.  The anatomical contoured footbeds contain Techlite for additional cushioning and comfort while providing shock absorption.  They have also been treated with a microbial AgION anti-odor agent to prevent any unwanted smelly build up.  I never felt like my feet were damp which is key in keeping them warm and the footbeds provided much needed support and stability.  After many hours I did not experience sore or tired feet like so many other hiking boots.

My final conclusion, the boots were extremely lightweight, waterproof/breathable, comfortable, flexible, warm and easy to quickly put on or take off.  Therefore this is why I am putting these at the top of the list for the best winter boots available on the market today.  Although I did need to purchase one piece of equipment as I was surprised that these did not come with more charging options.  I picked up a car USB adaptor at my local big box store for $20.  This enabled me to convert USB/DC and gave me the ability to charge the boots from my car’s cigarette lighter.  As we all know the great outdoors doesn’t have wall outlets and I will rarely bring my laptop on excursions as that is the main reason for being outside in the first place to get away from it all.

Some of the activities I participated in while wearing the Bugathermo were:  snowshoeing, sledding, hiking, snow shoveling (not fun), snowmobiling and doggie walking duty.  As all of these involved different levels of activity yet I found the boots performed to my expectations splendidly.  Also another thing to note is the Bugathermo is offered for Men and Women with different colors.  However, ladies if you looking for a more streamlined heated boot, don’t despair, Columbia has that covered in the Women’s Snowfall Thermo. Perhaps I will get that one next and be back with a review of those since they look so comfortable and sleek.  Winter boots brands I have previously owned:  Montrail, Redwing, North Face, Sorel, Merrell, Blondo, Asolo, and Vasque to name a few.

I am thinking of getting the 1st jacket. I am thinking of using the jacket for winter. Maybe wear a sweater, jeans, and some snow boots with the jacket with a pair of black gloves. Ugg Boot Cleaning and Maintenance Tips for Longevity

February 20, 2012 by
Filed under mens snow boots articles

Who does not love to own a lovely Ugg boot pair, as a part of their footwear collection? Yes, comfortable and stylish, these boots are known to offer great warmth in winters and a cooling effect in summer. Moreover with a wide range of varieties available in different styles, these are indeed the preferred choice of fashion icons across the world. However, these lovely pair of sheepskin boots comes with their share of problems. They are not waterproof! Yes, though some bogus vendors or manufacturers would claim that they are waterproof, original Australian Uggs are not. They are weather proof but not waterproof. The first thing you should do to ensure that you prevent them from getting damaged due to moisture from heavy rain water or snow.

Sprays: Users have benefited greatly from using leather proof sprays to handle this problem. You can get them from any of the shoe retailers, but make sure that you get branded varieties to make the best of these sprays. Apply a fresh coat of spray after you wash or clean your Uggs.

Hand wash: It is recommended that you should occasionally wash your Uggs and slippers to keep them looking good for a long time and to maintain their comfort quotient. Use mild detergent mixed with warm water for washing, never use hot water, it would damage the texture. Also, you should dry them appropriately after washing (read drying tips below). Note: the boots may shrink a little after washing, as they are genuine sheepskin boots, however, when you wear them, they would get back to their normal shape and size to fit your feet contour.

Drying: Well, this is an important part of the entire cleaning process of Australian Uggs. After washing your boots thoroughly, it is recommended that you use a dry towel to absorb the excess water. Leave them in an open, shady place for drying. Do not use heat to dry them.

Brushing: While brushing your boot is necessary, there are definite ways of doing it. Always brush gently with a soft brush or clean cloth (as you think best) in the same direction to do away with dust particles. Never brush in the opposite direction; it would end in disastrous results.

Storing: Always store any pair of Australian Ugg boots in a clean dry place, to prevent onslaught of moisture. Make sure to leave the openings unobstructed so that air is allowed to flow to preserve its softness.
Keep these tips in mind while taking care of your Ugg boots and you can never go wrong with them. Preserve your Australian Uggs for many years to come.

Fashion has always fascinated the artist inside me. And writing about the latest in fashion and trends in style has been my forte over the last few years. This fall Womens Ugg Boots, Mens Ugg Boots, Children Ugg Boots are very much in demand among the fashion as across the world. Keep yourself updated on this Australian Uggs.

The History of the Boot

February 12, 2012 by
Filed under mens snow boots articles

Looking into the history of where certain things started and how they have developed in today’s world can be very interesting. I have previously explored the history of shoes but you can also branch out to find out about specific kinds of shoes.

A boot is known as a type of footwear which completely covers the foot and ankle; sometimes covering the calf and lower leg. On occasion they will extend past your knee and even all the way up to the hip, but common and popular types are generally below the knee. High-top athletic shoes are not considered boots, although they fit the criteria to be considered in this category. In comparison to a typical style, they do not have a heel whereas many boots have some form.

One of the oldest forms of more stylish boots are cowboy boots; they became the most popular shoe among cowboys in the USA around the 1860′s. They were used for riding horses and day to day tasks carried out within such a profession. Traditionally made from cowhide but sometimes more exotic skins such as alligator and buffalo, they proved tough and long lasting. Today they have less coloured patterns featured and are mainly made from faux leather.

There are many different forms within this category of footwear. Some are specific to certain jobs and hobbies and others hold a practical and fashionable purpose. One specialist style used within a job and hobby is the hip high kind named waders. Anglers use these so they can literally wade through the water to pick up a fish from the waters’ edge or sprinkle bait. These boots can also be insulated but most are not. Another famous type is riding boots which of course are perfect for such a hobby.

Boots rose in popularity and gained more of a following when a famous female singer of the 1960′s began wearing them. They were once seen as a gender specific type of shoe to men but fast became popular with women as they proved both practical and stylish. In the winter time and throughout the rest of the year, climates can become rather cold. Boots are a very popular choice of footwear during these periods. You can even obtain snow boots which were specially designed to insulate your feet keeping them dry and warm when walking through snowy conditions.

No matter what style of boot you choose, they are all designed with a purpose. Some are created in-line with fashion where others provide a more practical use. Either way, products within this industry are ever growing and evolving meaning there will always be something to suit your tastes and requirements.

Guys UGG boot question?

Ok, so its Sunday night arround 11pm and Im watching The Disney Channel’s “Sonny With A Chance” and it was a two part episode running back to back where they were at a ski lodge. Did anyone else see it? All the guys wearing boots all had there jeans tucked into them. This even included the guys wearing the chestnut classic short mens boots. If you go to uggaustralia.com and go to the mens classic boot section you can see how it looks. So when I wear my classic short boots Im always wearing bootcut jeans over the Uggs. My jeans get soaked from the snow, slush whatever they get soaked. My girlfriend and her mom didnt think that the guys wearing Uggs on the Disney Channel looked bad at all and neither did I. It makes perfect sense when you wear winter boots to tuck your jeans into them so your jeans dont get wet. So why are so many girls against boys wearing Uggs and tucking in there jeans? Uggs have been worn by guys for over 200 years. Boots dont make you gay (iknow some will reply uggs and guys mean gay). So to all the Ugg boot wearers out there what do you think about guys (Im 15) wearing the classic short mens Ugg boots with there jeans tucked in?

Answer
like i’ve told you before… tuck them in and don’t give a damn about what others might say! guys look as good wearing uggs as girls do, people who think otherwise are just stereotyped dumb people
